Revamp of our wee Beach Cottage

This is our very little, very modest, beach cottage, that we bought in our hometown of Port Edward, KZN South Coast. It has taken all year to get it cleaned up and in a respectable state, thanks to both our fathers.
It was in such a dilapidated state, the grass and weeds were just about waist height, and the roof was so far gone that it was allowing an overwhelming amount of water into the lounge and bedrooms.
The cottage is literally a 2 minute walk to the beach and is too far for us to enjoy to its’ full extent at this point in time, so we have decided to rent it out for holiday accommodation.  It has been decorated very simply and easy going, something that doesn’t mind wet bottoms on the sofa and sandy feet on the floor – more than enough for a relaxed holiday away from the hustle and bustle.
This cottage accommodates 6 people with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and the outside building has 3 seperate bedrooms which are all accessed from the outside showing great potential, there is also a small bathroom which is also accessed from outside..  With some clever planning and design, this could potentially accommodate another 6 people at least, and leave enough room to have a double garage at some point.  Yes, this outbuilding is even bigger than the house!

It has been great challenge, but more fun than ever.

I hope you all have an amazing break over the holidays, have a blast, keep safe and I will catch up in the New Year!

Robert Domijan Paintings

For those of you who enjoy original artworks by South African artists, I  suggest you pay a visit to Elizabeth Gordon Gallery at 120 Florida Road, Durban, or if you don’t live in our lovely city, take a look at their website, here. Founded nearly 30 years ago, the gallery offers well stocked works from talented artists both local and across South Africa and also offers on site framing, specialising in conservation framing.

Below are a few pieces I have fallen in love with. The artist is Robert Domijan and the pieces are of Durban Beach Front, North and South. They are on exhibition entitled, Durban – City for all Seasons, at the gallery until Christmas.

Project: Bedroom Makeover

I was recently asked to spruce up a bedroom for a client. She wanted her main bedroom to look and feel more tranquil and calming.
Various shades of duck egg were utilised as my base colouration, which, paired with some of her existing cream and white decor resulted in a placid and serene bedroom setting… and of course, the accessories finished off the room beautifully! Take a look at the pics below and let me know what you think.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Project: Home Office

A lovely client, now a dear friend, asked me to help her with her home office. She wanted to convert her outside room and bathroom into a place that she could use as an office as well as homework room for her son. Below are some before and after pics of the place.
Have a super awesome weekend all!
